La Finca 2008 Malbec

I've long been a fan of Malbec - it's fruitiness is softened by delicate tannins.  I don't know how wine makers pull this off.  La FInca is an expensive - about $5 a bottle - choice when you're looking for something lighter than a Cab or Zin that can still stand up to beef and thick tomato sauces.  I served this last night with a garlicky Picanha roast - getting all my South American cuisine in for the week  - and the wine was light yet robust enough to drink well with such big flavors.

Another delicious and renowned Malbec is Bodega Norton.  I happened to like the La FInca better; it's more delicate and the tannins more subtle. Whichever you choose, pour a good-size glass.  This grape varietal is easy to drink.
