Not quite an apology
Apparently I have irritated - maybe even truly angered - an animal rights activist. I believe he called my willingness to eat grass-fed beef "loathsome." Wow. I could try to argue back but I won't. He has his opinions, which are clearly very strongly held, and I applaud him for taking a stand. And I think there's a lot of good that comes from eating vegetarian and vegan foods. I eat quite a few myself. I have a theory that Americans would eat more vegetarian dishes if main-stream magazines covered quality recipes. Just lay off the processed soy products, please.
I can't really apologize, AnimalRighter, because I will always enjoy a good burger or steak, preferably slaughtered using Kosher methods. I'm not for animal pain or cruelty, which is one reason we eat a lot less chicken. And I never eat lobster, crab or shrimp. It's not just that I couldn't actually kill the animal myself - I could not - it's that I find sea inhabitants utterly disgusting. But that doesn't mean I'm going to suggest other people stop eating them. Humans are omnivores. We can choose to limit our diets - for moral, health or religious reasons - or not.
For now, I'll just say thanks for leaving more beef for me.
