Klinker Brick's 2006 Old Vine Zinfandel, $18

So Klinker Brick's Old Ghost Zinfandel is the one that scored a 90 by Wine Spectator.  But it's also double the price at $37 a pop.  That does not make it conducive to weekly drinking.  At $18, I'd consider the Old Vine Zinfandel a special occasion wine.  This wine's first sip is strongly cherry; the long and satisfying finish is what makes you want another sip. 

This wine's grapes come from 14 different wineries ranging in age from 35 to 110 years old from the Sierras surrounding Lodi.  The age range increases th complexity, making the wine a more interesting choice than some of the others mentioned.  But its still an Old Vine Zin, which means it's great for that summer 'cue.  You may even want to uncork this bottle the next time you plan to cedar-plank some salmon.
