Zumba-licious
I'm going to take a break from my Whole Foods fawning to talk about my new exercise class. After having kids, my husband and I have found it much, much more difficult to exercise. When we hike, we go two or so miles in an hour. Not exactly cardio.
I've wanted to join my local yoga studio for months - it's a happening place - but work, kids on summer break and sheer tiredness have been a few of the impediments. A good friend of mine has been nagging me to join. So I did yesterday. For Zumba. And I immediately remembered what I liked about exercise. Man, did I feel good!
Zumba is a new form of cardio that is based on Latino music and dance steps. Ten minutes into the class, I began to perspire; at the end of the hour, I felt more in touch with my body that I have in months. My instructor says most people burn between 300 and 700 calories. In one hour.
However you choose to exercise, I hope you'll make a strong effort to fit it into your daily routine. You'll feel better - maybe even sexier - and be able to drink a margarita or eat an extra slice of pizza without guilt. Now, that's worth exercising for.
