Sheep milk yogurt

Yogurt, fruit and granola - is there a better breakfast?  I like the nut-filled, low-sugar granola because I feel full longer.  But I've never enjoyed goat milk; the tang that some people love is a bit too strong for my palate.  Then I found the sheep milk yogurt  by Old Chatham Sheepherding Company in Whole Food's dairy case. I read the label: HIgher in calcium, protein, vitamins and zinc while easier to digest than cow's milk. I bought six.

We like the plain version: with 3 grams of sugar and 10 grams of protein, I feel like it's a better choice than the sugary alternative. The first taste was rich and creamy, just like yogurt should be.  Yes, it does have 9 grams of fat, but I don't eat it often.  It also has three strains of probiotic and it's an easy way to get the much-needed bacteria into my kids.

I've looked elsewhere, but Whole Foods is the only store in my area to carry Old Chatham - or any sheep's milk - yogurt regularly.  I appreciate the store's dedication to healthful alternatives to standard American fare.  Thanks for giving me back my favorite breakfast Whole Foods!
